All things lassen
there’s always more to discover at Lassen Volcanic National Park
Planning your visit ahead of time is crucial to make sure you get the most out of your expedition. We’ve created this useful page for guests to figure out where to go, what to do, and what to see in Lassen Volcanic National Park. And considering we’re only 15 miles from the southwest entrance station and the main highway going through the park, it’s easy to stay and play.
Take a scenic drive and stop at the many viewpoints and explore any of 150 miles of hiking trails. Learn about Lassen’s volcanic activity; past and present. See bubbling mud pots, steam vents, warm spring-fed streams, snow-covered peaks, and sapphire blue and emerald green high lakes that breathtakingly beautiful. We recommend going on an information-packed ranger-led hike or two; they’re free and a lot of fun! And if you have kids, encourage them to become a Junior Ranger!
While summer is the most popular time to visit, winter in Lassen is truly something magical—and crowd-free.
