Swimming

Mill Creek, which runs along the east side of our property can be accessed from the short steep trail that begins between campsites 11 and 12 in our lower campground. You can also access Mill Creek from Little-Hole-In-The-Ground or Hole-In-The-Ground campgrounds, or across from Camp Tehama on Hwy 172.

Lake Almanor is a large reservoir 35 miles east in Chester and provides many miles of shoreline to launch your kayaks, canoes, and paddleboards. See below in BOATING for more info about public access and rentals

Battle Creek has easy-to-access swimming holes and a waterfall to discover as a bonus! The North Fork of Battle Creek can be accessed from Forest Service road 140A and Battle Creek Campground, both a few miles west of Mineral.

Blue Lake offers its waters for you to cool off in after the short, yet moderate, hike to get there.

Boating

Lake Almanor

Lake Almanor with its 53 miles of shoreline is one of the largest lakes and most popular attractions in Northern California, drawing visitors year-round. This large, sapphire-blue lake offering excellent fishing opportunities. Summer lake surface temperatures of about 75 degrees make it ideal for water sports, including water-skiing, wakeboarding, sailing, sailboarding, kayaking, paddleboarding, and wave running.  There are several marinas that provide marine services, storage, as well as gas. Boat, kayak, paddleboard, and watercraft rentals are available at several outlets.  Personal watercraft float tubes and inner tubes are allowed on the lake

    • Forest Service Ramp at the Canyon Dam Picnic Area at the Junction of Hwy. 147 and Hwy. 89, no fee

    • Forest Service Ramp on the West Shore 1 mi. off Hwy. 89 on Almanor Drive West, located in the U.S.F.S campground area, no fee

  • Private Marinas and Boat Launches

Feather River offers many areas to swim or float; either for leisurely, family-friendly fun or for extreme white-water rafting for those adrenaline junkies
