While there are countless opportunities to snowshoe and ski anywhere, even from our front door, one of the best places for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing is Lassen Volcanic National Park. The highway is closed for vehicle traffic after the snowfall, which comes in late fall to early winter, prohibits travel. Think about joining a ranger-led snowshoe hike—they’re free, including snowshoes, with admittance to the park. Entrance fees are only $10 in the winter, making it affordable for everyone to enjoy Lassen. Click here to learn more about all the fun you can have in Lassen Volcanic National Park in winter.
